NEW DELHI: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi informed that the monsoon session of Parliament will be held from July 20 to August 11. The session will begin at the Old Parliament building. The conference will be shifted to the new building when it is halfway. This will be the first session to be held in the new Parliament building. There will be 17 sittings in the 22-day conference.
As the opposition parties are lining up to form a united front against the BJP in view of next year's Lok Sabha elections, many questions will be raised by opposition parties at the conference. It is believed that this may lead to agitation. Also, the conference is convened when issues are arising in the name of the Uniform Civil Code.
The new Parliament building was inaugurated on May 28. The new Parliament building was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The scepter, considered a symbol of India's transfer of power, was placed by the Prime Minister next to the Speaker's seat.
