THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The complicated election process, the reluctance of many people to pay Rs 50 to become a member and vote, and the fact that things are going as if they are voting for money are affecting the Youth Congress organizational elections.

It is a situation where those contesting for office bearers have to spend their own money to recruit members. It is alleged that even those who are not interested in the organization or Congress are being made voters. There is criticism that making such people members to get office would be bad for the organization.

The official estimate is that more than 200,000 people have become members after four days of the membership process which started on June 28. The time to register for membership and vote is till the 28th of this month. There is a rush of candidates for finding members, even those who cannot pay the fee of Rs.50. It is a tough challenge for those who compete at the grassroots without group support.

A candidate for district president will spend at least five lakh rupees to secure maximum votes. At least Rs 30,000 will be spent by the constituency president candidate.

Membership and Votes

Voting should be done along with membership registration. People of 18-35 years of age are entitled to vote. Only voter ID cards should be used for membership. Many 18-22-year-olds do not have voter cards, which hampers membership registration. Aadhaar, passport, and license are not accepted. Voter's details should be entered in the online app and a live photo and live video should be taken. Voter card should be scanned and then you can vote online. Six votes per person - State President, State General Secretary, District President, District General Secretary, Constituency President, Mandalam President. Those who get more votes will get their respective positions.

Youth Congress has been made a guinea pig

It is alleged that some youth leaders who are close to Rahul Gandhi shut it down even though some MPs of Kerala met the high command and complained about the wrong election method. Corporate teams of AICC are responsible for Youth Congress and NSU elections. Allegations that these teams have used the Youth Congress as an experiment have been strong in the Congress for years.
