KOZHIKODE: A couple married six months ago jumped into the river from Feroke Bridge. The incident happened Sunday morning at 10.30 am. Jithin and his wife Varsha, natives of Manjeri in Malappuram jumped into the river. Family issues may have led the couple to take the drastic step, said the police.

The relatives said the couple left home last night. Soon after jumping into the river, Varsha seen near a pillar of the bridge, was rescued by some boaters. She has been shifted to the medical college hospital.

Jithin was dragged in the strong currents of the water. A search has been intensified for Jithin. A search has been intensified for Jithin. The coastal police, firefighters and the fishermen are jointly conducting the search. The police informed that investigation is in progress on how the couple reached Feroke.
