PALAKKAD: The Kollengode police registered a case in the incident where the heads of the groom and the bride were banged together as part of a marriage function. The state women's commission had registered a suo moto case in the incident and directed the Kollangode police to investigate and submit a report. The action was after this.

The police had recorded the exact statement of the newlyweds. The accused has been charged with causing bodily harm and insulting womanhood. The accused identified as Subhash of Pallassena will be arrested soon.

Subhash, a neighbour of the groom banged their heads with force as part of the marriage function on June 25. The visuals of this had led to a lot of criticism on social media. The beginning of the incidents was at the marriage function of Sachin, a native of Pallassena in Palakkad and Sajla of Mukkam in Kozhikode. When Sajla was to enter Sachin's house after the wedding, a person standing behind banged their heads forcefully.

The visuals show Sajla entering the house in tears on her wedding day. After the visuals went viral that such practices are being followed in marriages in Palakkad, some argued. Some claimed that no such custom exists in the district.
