THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Widespread rain is likely in the state for the next five days. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places from today till July 6. In the next three hours, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Malappuram and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph.
Orange alert has been declared in Ernakulam today. Yellow alert has also been issued in Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Orange alert has been announced in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts tomorrow. Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning not to go fishing in the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts from today till July 7.
