THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the split of NCP and Ajit Pawar's alliance with NDA, BJP state president K Surendran said on Sunday that a similar move is possible in Kerala too. He said this while welcoming the NCP MLAs of Kerala to the BJP. He also informed that the NCP unit in Kerala will also adopt the stand taken by the NCP at the national level.
The BJP leader added that dissatisfaction is simmering in the state NCP and they will only be relevant if they come to the NDA. But even though the BJP state leadership openly tried for an alliance, the Kerala NCP unit came forward by expressing its support to Sharad Pawar.
State leaders including PC Chacko and AK Saseendran announced that they are declaring their unwavering support to Sharad Pawar. AK Saseendran clarified that the Kerala NCP will not join forces with the BJP and will remain on the Left front.
At the same time, Ajit Pawar became part of the Shinde government along with the majority of NCP MLAs, dealing a heavy blow to the 'Maha Vikas Agadi' alliance, which is facing continuous setbacks. Along with Ajit Pawar, who was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister, nine MLAs also took oath as ministers and became part of the Eknath Shinde government. According to close sources, Ajit Pawar has the support of 43 out of 53 NCP MLAs.
Ajit Pawar's move comes more than a year after Eknath Shinde joined the BJP with 40 MLAs after splitting the Shiv Sena. Ajit Pawar has joined the BJP government along with prominent members of the previous cabinet.
