KADAKKAL: Ganja case accused and his wife attacked the police and tried to escape during the arrest. Nifan (35) of Puthen Veedu, Charuvila, Irapil, Kadakkal and his wife Sumaiya attacked the police. Kadaikal SI Jyothis Chiravur, CPOs Abhilash and Sajin were injured. Abhilash has three stitches on his head. Both Jyothis and Sajin suffered head injuries. They sought treatment at the Kadakkal Taluk Hospital.
The incident happened at Nifan's house around 4 am yesterday. Sajukumar of Puthen Veedu, Charuvila, Ayirakkuzhy, Kadakkal was caught with 1.2 kg ganja at Kunayam on Saturday evening at 4 pm.
When Sajukumar was interrogated, information was received that it was Nifan who had handed over the ganja. Then the police went to Nifan's house and took him into custody and handcuffed him. Nifan then attacked the police with handcuffs. Police said Sumaiya also attacked them while subduing Nifan.
Niphan and Sajukumar were produced in court and remanded. Police said that Sumaiya will be arrested soon.
