NEW DELHI: Railways has given an explanation to the video of the Vandebharat train being towed by an electric engine. A video of Vandebharat being pulled by an old electric engine was widely circulated on social media. The video also got a political dimension when it was shared by a Congress leader.

Many people who shared the 25-second video said that the Vande Bharat train, that started its service recently, is being pulled due to repairs. However, the railway authorities explain that the train was not towed due to any kind of fault.

The video of a newly delivered Vande Bharat Express being taken for commissioning is being widely circulated, the Railways explained. The train was not running on the track because it was not commissioned and the route was not fixed. So the help of the old electric engine was sought. The East Central Railway stated that the train whose route was not commissioned was moved with the help of another engine. Railways also informed that trains are towed before the test run for route determination.
