THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Dengue fever is continuing its terrorizing run across the state raising more casualties with every passing day. According to the health department, currently, there are 138 hotspots in the state seriously affected by dengue. In Kozhikode and Kollam alone, more than 20 places have been placed on the hotspot list. The health officials asked people in this region to exercise caution.
Aedes mosquitoes, the carriers of dengue are most seen in these selected hotspots. Anchal, Thenmala, Kottarakkara, and Punalur are top hotspots in Kollam. In Pathanamthitta town, Konni, Seethathodu, and Kumbanad come in the hotspot list. Vanapuram, Muttom, Karimannoor comes in Idukki.
In Ernakulam, nine places surrounding Kochi corporation are blanketed in fever. In Wayanad, the fever is restricted mainly in the Sultan Bathery region, but also in some parts of Meenangady.In Kasargod's Badiyadka, the number of patients reaching hospitals is on the rise.
