KOLKATA: Governor Dr. CV Ananda Bose visited the conflict-ridden northern districts as the West Bengal local government elections are approaching. With the arrival of the governor with the peace mission, the government systems have also started to work more energetically.

Governor's immediate and direct intervention to control the situation in the violence-hit Cooch Behar district has brought relief and confidence to the people. Ananda Bose visited the family members of those who died and those who were injured in the violence in Dinhata. He directly contacted top police officials and issued strict instructions in real-time to speed up the process.

Five people were injured in the clash in the Dinhata area on Saturday night. According to the police, a relative of a TMC candidate is also among the injured. The Governor, who camped overnight at the Cooch Behar Circuit House, monitored the situation and issued instructions to State Election Commissioner Rajeev Sinha, SP and District Magistrate. He demanded the restoration of law and order and the immediate arrest of the culprits.

Ananda Bose also visited the hospital in Dinhata where five injured persons are undergoing treatment and spoke to the doctors and intervened to ensure better treatment. He also visited the border villages where the conflict took place. He consoled the family members of the victims and assured them of immediate action. Local media reports that common people are of the opinion that now their only hope is the Raj Bhavan.

At the same time, Raj Bhavan sources said that the Peace Room, Rapid Response Cell and 24x7 phone number opened in Raj Bhavan to resolve the grievances are giving good results. A system was put in place for all those who asked for security. Raj Bhavan directed the concerned to redress the grievances immediately and report them. As many as 5.67 crore people are eligible to cast their votes in the three-tier panchayat elections to be held on July 8 for 74,000 seats in zilla parishads, panchayat samitis and gram panchayats.
