THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC President K Sudhakaran said that CPM tried to kill him six times. He also alleged that those who conspired to assassinate him hold high positions in the party and the government. Earlier, a controversy had erupted after Deshabhimani's former associate editor G Shakthidharan revealed that the CPM had sent a hit squad to kill Sudhakaran.
The Congress leader said that he often escaped narrowly from the assassination attempts which began in 1992 after he became the DCC president. He said that he was saved due to the timely intervention of his colleagues and God's blessings. He also stated that there were direct assassination attempts in places like Payyannur, Mattannur, Peravoor and Kuthuparamba. He escaped the assassination attempts by changing the car and changing the number plate.
K. Sudhakaran added that getting invited to the housewarming of his former driver Prakash Babu was also part of the conspiracy but was avoided because someone from the CPM cautioned his PA. He also stated that the conspiracy against him is still going on but no matter how hard CPM tries, he cannot be killed unless God wills it.
