KALPETTA: Anjana's teacher's song in the classroom and the fifth grader Abhijith's rhythm on the desk have taken over the hearts of lakhs.

'Lale Lale LaLale Lale' song video has crossed 1 lakh likes within 24 hours of posting it on Facebook.

The stars are B Abhijith, a class 5 student of Thirunelly Kattikkulam Government Higher Secondary School, and Anjana S Kumar, a music teacher. The student of a tribal community was drumming beautifully on the desk to the teacher's tribal song.

Anjana has often heard Abhi drumming to the beat on the desk and the door. Although invited to drum to the song in class on Saturday, Abhi hesitates at first. However, when the teacher started singing, he joined in and started drumming to the rhythm on the desk. Along with the song, the teacher recorded this on her mobile. The video was sent to Arshita, Abhi's class teacher. Arshita posted it on Facebook. People welcomed it with likes and shares within minutes.

Minister K Radhakrishnan and OR Kelu MLA posted good wishes.

Abhijit is the son of Biju and Athira of Kattikkulam Ammani Colony. Arunita, a second class student, and Anaswara, a three-year-old girl, are his siblings. Anjana who completed ganabhushanam from Kalamandalam, hails from Vellamunda. Husband: Divija Raj.

Songs and Studies

In the schools of Wayanad, teachers perform songs and dances that are popular with tribal groups. This is to avoid the dropout of tribal children. Anjana, a teacher at Kattikulam School, went one step further. People who misbehave in class are punished by making them sing folk songs. Even when teaching difficult subjects like maths and English, teachers sing tribal songs with the children. This made a big difference says Abhi's class teacher Arshita.
