THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The number of fever patients is increasing in the state. In the last three days, 31,182 people sought treatment for fever in government hospitals alone. 142 of them are suffering from dengue fever. 749 people have similar symptoms. 24 people were diagnosed with rat fever. 12 people died due to fever in three days. Eight of them were infected with dengue.
12,694 people were affected by fever on Monday. 3 cases of rat fever and 55 cases of dengue were reported. 2,93,424 people were affected by fever last month. 78 people died.
Meanwhile, it is alleged that the inefficiency of pre-monsoon cleaning led to the proliferation of mosquitoes. Source destruction of mosquitoes was not done in many places. Although a special project called 'Maariyilla Mazhakkaalam' was launched as part of the health awareness campaign, it was not effective.
138 dengue-affected areas
The health department has identified 138 dengue-affected areas in the state. These are the areas where the presence and incidence of dengue-carrying Aedes mosquitoes are highest. Kollam and Kozhikode districts have the highest number of hot spots (20 each). The health department has issued instructions for special vigilance and preventive measures in hot spots.
