NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday strongly criticized a PIL seeking the constitution of a national commission for men on the issue of suicides by married men under domestic violence. Advocate Mahesh Kumar Tiwari is the petitioner. Criticizing the petitioner, the court asked him whether he has information regarding the number of husbands killed after being abused by their wives.
While dismissing the PIL as withdrawn, the bench of Justices Surya Kant and Dipankar Datta orally observed that the existing criminal law takes care of such grievances in suicide cases and people were not without any remedy.
