LONDON: The court sentenced has the husband to life imprisonment for murdering Malayali nurse and two children in Britain. The Petherton Court sentenced Chelevalan Saju (52), a native of Padiyoor in Kannur to least 40 years in prison.
The incident took place on December 15, 2022, in Northamptonshire. Anju (35) was found dead and her children Jeeva (six) and Jhanvi (four) were found critically injured at their home in Kettering, Northamptonshire. The children later died in the hospital. In April, Saju had admitted in the court that he killed the three. Saju stated that he killed Anju under the influence of alcohol on the suspicion of her having an extra-marital affair.
After killing Anju, Saju deliberated for four hours before killing the children. Anju, a nurse at Kettering General Hospital, and her children were reported missing by neighbours who informed the police. Saju was at home when the police arrived. Prosecutor James Newton-Price KC said there was no evidence to suggest that Anju had acted unfaithfully. When Saju's phone was searched as part of the investigation, the police found that he used to search for women through dating apps while his wife was at work.
