KASARAGOD: Clashes and lathi-charge ensued during the march by Congress workers to the SP office in Kasaragod, alleging that there are attempts to implicate KPCC president and leader of opposition in a false case. DCC president PK Faisal and some workers were injured in the lathi charge. Faisal was admitted to a private hospital with head injuries.

PK Faisal, who is in the hospital, alleged that DySP PK Sudhakaran hit him on the head with a lathi when he tried to stop the activists who were trying to push the barricade. Police resorted to water cannons when workers tried to break the barricade and pelted stones, shortly after Raj Mohan Unnithan MP inaugurated the march. Lathi charge happened when the workers did not disperse. The march, which started from Vidyanagar DCC office premises, was blocked by the police barricade near the SP office. Youth Congress district president Pradeep Kumar was also struck. Congress leaders said that some activists were also injured in the beating. Two policemen were injured in the stone pelting.
