THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Antony Raju said that after AI cameras started working in the state from June 5, the number of road accidents has reduced. There were 3714 accidents in June 2022 compared to 1278 this June. There is also a decrease in accidental deaths. 344 in June 2022 to 140 in June 2023. Number of injured are 4172 and 1468 respectively.
From June 5 to July 3, 20,42,542 vehicle violations were detected, but 1,28,740 were approved by the Motor Vehicle Department. Cases of not wearing helmets are more- 73887. The system of online submission of complaints will be effective from August 5. A mobile app will be set up for this.
Fine in no parking area
The Motor Vehicle Department has decided to charge a fine if the vehicle is parked in a no-parking area. A meeting of various departments will be held today in this regard. Although the case related to the AI camera transaction is pending in the High Court, it has been decided to implement the comprehensive agreement immediately.
