GUWAHATI: Two people died after giant boulders came crashing down the hill and crushing two cars due to a landslide in Nagaland. Three sustained serious injuries.

The accident happened last evening at 5 pm on national highway 29 at Dimapur’s Chumoukedima in Nagaland. Giant boulders rolled down from the top in the landslide following heavy rain and crushed the cars. A video of the incident has surfaced. More details of the dead have not been obtained. The video shows the boulders crashing down the hill and crushing the cars. The video was captured from the dashboard camera of the car parked behind.

One in the car died on the spot and the other in the hospital. One person is reported to be trapped inside the car. All efforts are on to rescue him. Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland said the accident occurred at Pakala Pahar, and no landslides or rockfalls have happened here before. The chief minister announced that all medical assistance will be provided to those injured in the accident and financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each will be provided to the families of the dead.
