KOCHI: The Kerala High Court quashed the FIR in the fake drug case against Sheela Sunny, the owner of a beauty parlor in Chalakudy. Justice Kausar Edappagath's action was on the plea filed by Sheela Sunny, who requested that the chemical examiner's laboratory department confirmed that the seized packets were not drugs and that the case against her should be quashed.

Sheela Sunny (51), owner of the beauty parlour in Nayarangadi Kaliyankara House was found to be in possession of the deadly drug LSD stamp and was jailed for 72 days. However, the story changed when the chemical test report confirmed that the drugs seized from her bag was not LSD stamps. Sheela was not granted bail by the lower courts as possessing drugs is a serious crime. After getting bail from the High Court, Sheela was released on May 10. The test report from the Kakkanad Regional Lab came out on May 12, but she got the copy only a week ago.

The excise arrested Sheela from her beauty parlour for possessing 12 LSD stamps in her bag. However, the result of the test that came out from the Kakkanad lab with the report of 'LSD test negative' showed a serious lapse from the side of the excise department. Three tests on all 12 stamps turned negative.

The report from the lab was sent to Chalakudy Excise Range Officer and circle officer on May 12. These were received in both the offices within a day. However, the excise was not ready to inform Sheela about this. Sheela Sunny was released on on bail after completing her jail term.
