THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A flying thief indulged in thefts in the capital city has been arrested. Umaprasad, a native of Telangana, was caught from the airport while returning from Kerala after the theft with the booty. There is also an information that he had previously done part-time jobs in the police station.
City Police Commissioner C H Nagaraju said Umaprasad's method is to travel around the city in an auto to trace houses to steal. He will find locked houses and then register on Google Maps. He commits the theft at night. His manner is to break the bars of the main door or window using the tools he carries.
After landing at Thiruvananthapuram airport, Umaprasad will first visit the Padmanabhaswamy temple. Then will make plans for the theft. He targets only gold ornaments. The commissioner said Umaprasad’s method is to pawn the gold he steals and then takes money.
Umaprasad, a resident of Khammam in Andhra Pradesh, was trapped by a statement of an auto driver. The police said that more information about the theft can be known only after questioning him.
