FLORIDA: The 'Icon of the Seas', the floating city of the sea, is gearing up for its maiden voyage. 'Icon of the Seas' is the world's largest cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean International Company of the US. All the sea trials of the ship have been completed.
With the official launch, Icon of the Seas will break the world record for length set by Royal Caribbean's own super luxury ship 'Wonder of the Seas'. Wonder of the Seas' maiden voyage was on March 4 last year.
Icon of the Seas, completed in Finland, will be handed over to Royal Caribbean International in October. The maiden voyage will be from Miami, Florida in January next year. In its first voyage of seven-nights, the ship will visit five Caribbean coasts, including the Bahamas, before returning to Miami. Most of the tickets have been booked. The minimum rate is $4,723 (Rs. 3,87,415) per person.
