THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two persons died yesterday due to the heavy rain that has been going on for three days. A lightning storm caused havoc in Chalakudy and Kondotty. A man named Basheer (54) was found dead in a waterlogged area near his house in Naluwayal, Kannur City. He had been living alone.

The body of Bihar native Rajukumar (21), who went missing while washing his feet in Thottappally in Alappuzha on Monday, was found in Thekkekkara. He was an employee of Devine Company, a contractor of IRI Company.

A man named Vijeesh went missing in Vadakara while trying to catch fish. CK Usmankutty (65), who was swept away in Iruvanjipuzha, Kozhikode on Tuesday, could not be found. In the last three days, four people, including a student in Kasargod, were killed.

A tree fell on Cantonment House, the official residence of the Opposition Leader in Thiruvananthapuram. The security wall of Kannur Central Jail collapsed due to heavy rain. It is 154 years old.

Eight houses were completely destroyed and 12 houses were partially destroyed in Omanur Kodakkad in Kondotty due to a heavy cyclone which lasted for three minutes. More than a hundred trees were uprooted. A tree also fell on the anganwadi. Fortunately, there were no children in the building.

There was widespread damage in Chalakudy and its surroundings due to the sudden storm that occurred for about one and a half minutes at 11:30 in the morning. Several trees were uprooted and traffic was disrupted. Rumblings and slight tremors were reported from underground in Amballur and Kallur areas. The part that cracked the other day near the Kuthiran Tunnel on the Thrissur - Palakkad National Highway ruptured fell about three feet.

The 135-year-old Niranam Vadakkumbhagam St. Paul's CSI Church near Thiruvalla collapsed following heavy rain. Nedumbram, Kuttoor and Niranam panchayats were flooded following the overflowing of Pampa and Manimalayar rivers.

More than 2000 houses were flooded in Alappuzha. Upper Kuttanad is under flood threat. 117 houses were destroyed. Sea water has entered several houses from Chellanam to Azhikode in Kochi. The Bhoothathankettu dam has been opened. 1154 people have been relocated to 64 relief camps in the state.
