THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An orange alert has been declared on Thursday in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod and a yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts. IMD has announced that heavy rain will continue for two more days. The rain will be heavier at night.
194.2 mm of rain fell in Alappuzha on Tuesday night. Thrissur received 57.46 mm, while Kannur received 42.3 mm of rain in 24 hours. The shutter has been raised in 12 dams of the Irrigation Department. A special alert has been declared in hilly areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till Saturday. 1154 people shifted to 64 relief camps in the state.
