THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court has permitted further investigation in assembly ruckus case with conditions. The Thiruvananthapuram CJM Court gave the permission. The court has asked to complete the investigation in two months and that the progress of the investigation be reported every three weeks.
The police approached the court demanding an investigation when the trial date of the case was to be fixed and further proceedings were to be taken. The crime branch DySP investigating the case, filed an application in the Thiruvananthapuram CJM court. The crime branch had also requested that the trial proceedings be suspended till further investigation report is submitted to the court. LDF leaders including Minister Sivankutty are the accused in the case.
The assembly had witnessed unprecedented scenes on March 13 in 2015 as the LDF members in the opposition tried to prevent Finance Minister K M Mani, who was facing charges in the bar bribery scam, from presenting the state budget. The charge sheet of the crime branch said public property worth Rs 2.20 lakh was destroyed in the clash. The crime branch demanded re-investigation when the court met to pass judgment on the plea filed requesting that the cases in different courts related to the violence be tried together.
