KANNUR: The State Disaster Management Department has issued a red alert in Kannur and Kasaragod districts due to the possibility of heavy rainfall. As per the warning, heavy rains will create extreme hazards such as landslides, floods and landslides. Meanwhile, landslides erupted again in Kannur.
A road was swept away by a landslide in Udayamkanakund in Cherupuzha. Another landslide occurred near Vaithalkund Falls. Houses were also flooded in Muzhappilangadu. Eight families in the area have been relocated. In Kannur, the shutters of Pazhassi Dam were raised by 35 cm.
Orange alert has been declared in seven districts today- Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad. There is also a warning of 3.5 to 4.3 meter high waves and rogue seas along the Kerala coast (from Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) till 11.30 pm tomorrow. The Indian Meteorological Department has advised to not go fishing in Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts.
Fishermen and coastal residents beware
1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.
2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
3. Avoid trips to the beach and fun at sea altogether.
