NEW DELHI: As per reports, BJP's fiery face in Maharashtra and party national secretary Pankaja Munde is planning an exit from the saffron camp. Several media reported about Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi visiting Pankaja Munde’s residence in Mumbai to prevail upon her to join the Congress party. Pankaja is the daughter of Gopinath Munde who was the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra during the early nineties. In the earlier Devendra Fadnavis government, Pankaja Munde served as Cabinet Minister for Rural Development, Women and Child Development Maharashtra State.

Munde’s decision to alter course is a premonition for BJP’s hopes in the upcoming assembly elections scheduled for 2024. Pankaja Munde hails from the Vanjari caste which has serious clouts over places such as Vidarbha, Marathwada, and western Maharashtra.

Maharashtra Pradesh congress committee president Nana Patole has already rolled the red carpet for Pankaja Munde, welcoming her to Congress Party.
