THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Congress is displaying its escape strategy by insulting CPM instead of stating its stand on the Uniform Civil Code issue. He also stated that apart from opposing the BJP in electoral politics, the Congress is hesitant to stand against the Sangh Parivar on issues affecting the existence of the country.
"Does the Congress have a clear position and policy on the Uniform Civil Code issue at the national level? If so, what is it? Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh, a minister of Himachal Pradesh, has welcomed the Uniform Civil Code. Is the official position of the Congress different from that?" the CM asked.
"The Congress is effectively supporting the anti-democratic ordinance brought by the Centre to overturn the Supreme Court verdict in favour of the Delhi state government. Through this ordinance, the Sangh Parivar has made a declaration that it will not hesitate to subvert even constitutional principles. However, the Delhi and Punjab elements of the Congress decided to take a stand against the Delhi government. The national leadership was also not willing to support the Aam Aadmi government in Delhi. Congress is following the same deceitful stand on the uniform civil code issue as well," he added.
