NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court said that it was fed up with petitions on wild tusker Arikomban and that petitions on Arikomban are reaching the court every two weeks. Although the court initially decided to levy a fine of Rs 25,000 from the animal welfare organization which moved a petition asking whether Arikomban was alive, the apex court later withdrew the decision. The organization withdrew the petition following the tough stand by the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud. The apex court directed the petitioners to approach the High Court or authorities.

The Walking Eye Foundation for Animal Advocacy approached the Supreme Court demanding that Arikomban should be brought back to Chinnakanal. The court mentioned that it had dismissed another similar petition on Wednesday.

When the apex court asked the petitioners to approach the High Court, the organization replied that Arikomban is sometimes in Kerala and sometimes in Tamil Nadu. This angered the court. "Why should you know where the elephant is? The elephant will keep moving. We have no authority to advise which High Court you should approach," the court said.
