THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in all the districts and strong winds with a speed of up to 55 km per hour in the state in the next three hours. A Yellow alert has been announced in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram districts.
Meanwhile, an elderly person has died after falling into a waterhole in Kottayam. Aymanam Mutel Srambithara Bhanu Karumban (73) was going to feed the cattle when he fell into a five-feet deep waterhole.
A young man is missing in the sea at Valiamangad Beach in Koyilandy, Kozhikode. Anoop, a native of Panthalayani, is missing. While sitting on the beach, he was hit by waves and fell into the sea.
Holiday in five districts.
THIRUVANATHAPURAM: Following heavy rains holiday has been declared for educational institutions in five districts in the state today. Educational institutions in Kozhikode, Pathanamthitta, Kasaragod, Kottayam, and Kannur will remain closed today. The exams which were to be held today at Kannur University and Technical University have also been changed. The Alappuzha Collector has declared a holiday for educational institutions in
Chengannur, Karthikapalli and Kuttanad taluks in the district.
High wave warning
Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of wave height of 3.5 to 4.2 meters along the Kerala coast (from Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) till 11.30 pm tomorrow. Authorities have warned fishermen and coastal residents to be cautious.
