NEW DELHI: The central government has approved the draft notification making air conditioning systems mandatory in cabins of trucks in the country, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday. As per the notification, an air conditioning system is mandatory in cabins of trucks under categories N2 and N3.
Taking to Twitter, Minister Gadkari said that truck drivers play a crucial role in ensuring road safety. He said that the new conditions will help in providing comfortable working conditions for truck drivers and thereby improve their efficiency. He also said that the new system will also make sure that drivers do not get much exhausted during long-distance journeys. However, the minister has not mentioned the time limit within which air conditioners should be installed in the trucks.
