THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister V Muraleedharan on Friday said that the news report claiming that he is planning to leave the post of minister and focus on party activities is baseless. He also said that he did not know about contesting in Attingal. Muraleedharan said that he did not know anything about the change in leadership. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will decide whether Suresh Gopi will join the Union Cabinet. The minister's response comes amid rumors that he may replace K Surendran as the state president of BJP.
Meanwhile, BJP state leadership is also hinting that there will be no leadership change in Kerala. The national leadership is likely to allow Surendran to remain as state president till the Lok Sabha elections next year. The state leadership clarified that the change of leadership will be based on the election results.
The BJP recently underwent a major revamp in various states ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The national leadership announced new state presidents in Punjab, Telangana, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh. While Union Minister G Kishan Reddy was named the BJP chief in Telangana, Sunil Kumar Jakhar was named the party chief in Punjab. Babulal Marandi is the new BJP state president in Jharkhand.
