THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IMD warns that there is a possibility of widespread rain in the state for the next 24 hours. The warning says that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places.

Monsoon trough moving southwards from its normal position, coastal low pressure trough prevailing from south Gujarat coast to north Kerala coast and Cyclonic Circulation over West Bengal and north Odisha are the reasons for heavy rainfall in Kerala. In this scenario, widespread rain and heavy rain at isolated places is likely over Kerala for the next 24 hours, after which the intensity of rain is likely to reduce, updated the IMD.

According to the notification, there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in all the districts of Kerala in the next three hours. IMD has declared orange alert in Kannur and Kasaragod districts today. Chance of very heavy rain at isolated places is forecast. Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are on yellow alert today. A yellow alert has been announced in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts tomorrow.
