THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: First Malayali presence at the helm of over a century-old Indian Institute of Architects. B Sudheer, a native of Vettamukku, Thiruvananthapuram, was elected as the treasurer of the 106-year-old national organization. He will be appointed on the 22nd of this month. The 54-year-old sees this as an opportunity to present Kerala's architecture to the world. National seminars will be organized under the leadership of architects from Kerala.
Founded in 1917 in Mumbai, the organization has more than 26,000 members. The aim of the organization is to present solutions to the problems and demands of architects before the government through collective efforts. The biggest responsibility is to earn the organization more income than in previous years through moderate expenditure.
He studied architecture at Thiruvananthapuram Engineering College in 1992. In 2011, while being the Chairman of the Kerala Chapter of the Indian Institute of Architects, he chaired the Indian Architects Fest Kerala in Dubai. The program was to introduce world-class architecture to the architects of Kerala. He is the owner of Architects Consortium at Thycaud.
Take-a-break in neighboring countries too
Sudhir designed the Take-A-Break toilets with a coffee shop and restrooms which replaced the regular toilets. Sudhir has introduced the concept in Pakistan and Japan.
