THRISSUR: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan said that the invitation to the Muslim League to counter Uniform Civil Code was problem-based and not a political-based invitation. The question is regarding India's survival. He said that CPM would work in harmony with those who agree on the issue and that there is no untouchability with the league.

Additionally, he said that Congress has not clarified its view on the matter and that they would join hands with league if they agree on the issue. MV Govindan's reaction stated while answering a question from the media in Thrissur. He added that the Left is not worried about Sunni unity.

At the same time, Muslim League General Secretary PMA Salam said that he had received an invitation to the seminar against the Uniform Civil Code. He also informed that the UDF will deliberate and decide.PMA Salam told the media that he will assess whether the CPM's move is political and will take a decision the following day. But Muslim League leader ET Muhammed Basheer has responded that CPM's invitation is malicious.
