THRISSUR: Lady Amherst's pheasant, an exotic bird, has gone missing from Thrissur Zoo. Zoo staff are saying that the bird was in the cage Friday evening. The staff came to know about the bird's disappearance in the morning. The cage was cleaned on Saturday morning as well. The preliminary conclusion is that the bird may have jumped out of the cage during this time. Although a search was conducted, the bird was not found in the vicinity of the cage and the surrounding areas of the zoo.

A male bird and two females were in the zoo. The male bird is the one that has gone missing.

The Lady Amherst's Pheasant is a rare species of bird found in Southeast China. The length of an adult Lady Amherst's Pheasant is 100 to 120 cm. The male bird is characterized by a white and black cape with a red crest.
