KOCHI: A PDP leader who sent obscene messages to a journalist was expelled from the party. The action is against state general secretary Nisar Mather. The PDP leadership had earlier suspended Nisar Mather for constantly harassing a journalist from Kochi through WhatsApp. On the complaint of the media worker, the Kadavanthra police had registered a case and started an investigation.

The Kadavanthra police registered a case against the PDP leader on the charges of using obscene language against women and online abuse. The media worker lodged a complaint with the police after receiving constant messages in the middle of the night and early morning.

Nisar Mather was tasked to inform the media about the health condition of PDP Chairman Mahdani, who was hospitalized during his visit to Kerala. The mediaperson contacted Nisar to inquire about Mahdani's health. After this, he started sending obscene messages. The media worker issued a warning but continued to send the messages. This is how the complaint was filed. Screenshots of messages sent by Nisar have also surfaced.
