THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Muslim league today attended a meeting and came out with a decision to not participate in the CPM-conducting seminar on UCC. But the main confusion surrounds Congress, as they remain ambiguous in their stand on UCC only lending tacit support to the league.

The seminar concept is mainly based on taking quick action against the Uniform Civil Code implementation brought up by Bharatiya Janata Party. Yesterday CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan Master ridiculed UDFs chicanery of suppressing the UCC issue caring less about the concern of Muslim factions.

However, UDF juxtaposed the CPI(M) Seminar by reminiscing an event that happened 30 years ago when E K Nayanar supported wholeheartedly the proposal of the Uniform Civil Code while serving as the opposition leader in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.

On the other side, Samastha looks ready to accept the CPI(M) invitation to join the Seminar.

CPI(M) wants to bring League into their power circle to bolster and create a rift within UDF. But CPI has a strong opinion not to bring the Muslim League to the Left-wing.

CPI state Secretary Kanam Rajendran openly criticized CPI(M) decision saying the alliance will be a 'ridiculous' option if considered.

He said it will affect the CPI(M) ideology and warned about future repercussions.
