DHAKA: Minnu Mani, the first Kerala woman to ever get into the Indian cricket team kickstarted her debut in style. In her first over of bowling, Minnu took the wicket of Bangladesh’s Shamima Sultana with a googly.

Indian Women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur after winning the toss decided to bowl first. Minnu comes from Wayanad and is a member of the Kurachiyar tribes who are known for assisting warrior prince Pazhassi Raja in the revolt against the British.

Kurachiyar is paltry now in Wayanad, thus the selection of Minnu is simply the icing on the cake for her tribe, as well as the people of Kerala.
