THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Disaster Management Authority has said that there is no need to worry about rumblings coming from underground in some areas of Kasaragod, Kottayam and Thrissur districts in Kerala . Officials explained that small-scale tremors and underground noises are being heard in many places in Kerala as a result of minor movements in the subduction zone.
A small amount of pressure release is less likely to cause other problems. Because the movements are so small, they are not reported to the observatories of the National Centre for Seismology. The state disaster management authority, along with the Delhi-based National Centre for Seismology, is monitoring the situation and there is no cause for concern at present, the disaster management authority said.
At Amballur and Varantharappalli in Thrissur, rumblings were heard from underground on Sunday. Locals say the sound lasted for two seconds. This is the third time a similar incident has been reported in the past week. The district administration had conducted an inspection in connection with the incident last day. But there was no sign of earthquake. Earlier, a similar incident was reported in Kottayam too.
