Cherpulassery: The Cherpulassery police have issued a strong warning to people who violate traffic rules. In the past couple of months, cases were registered under juvenile justice against ten people for allowing their children to drive two-wheelers. A fine of Rs 2.5 lakh was levied.
Legal action was taken against the vehicle owner and the parents. A fine of Rs 1.84 lakh was levied in the month of June alone, in which more than a thousand cases were registered for not wearing helmets, seat belts and for pasting cooling films. In the month of June, 32 cases of speeding and 6 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol were registered.
In 2022, 13 people lost their lives in 143 vehicle accidents in the vicinity of Cherpulassery police station. To prevent such accidents, police surveillance has been intensified under the leadership of the station SHO. Till July 2023 there were only 40 accidents and two deaths.
Parents should ensure that children are not driving vehicles without a license and the police would strengthen actions to avoid accidents and deaths.- Srikumar, S. H. O Cherpulassery.
