BENGALURU: Robbers stopped a vehicle to steal 2000 kg of tomatoes in Bangalore. The vehicle was carting all the tomatoes to reach the market for sale when the incident happened. The three-member gang injured the driver and farmer to take away all the prized tomatoes. In Karnataka, 1 kg of tomatoes costs anywhere between 120 to 150 rupees.
The farmer along with the driver intended to sell the tomatoes at Kolar market and was traveling from Chitradurga town. However, the three-member gang started following the truck midway around the journey. At one point, they blocked the mini truck and engaged in a feud with the truck driver claiming that the vehicle hit their car. Not letting the talks morph into a fight, the farmer paid the youngster money online as compensation. Not salvaged with the compensation, the three-member gang started a fight, beating down the farmer and driver to later ransack all tomatoes from the vehicle.
The police have started an investigation by acquiring the CCTV visuals of the scene and are tracking down their cell phone with the clue left behind by the online cash transfer.
