THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: IMD has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rains in Central Kerala and North Kerala for the next five days. Yellow alert has been announced in four districts today following heavy rain warnings. Yellow alert has been declared in Ernakulam, Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
Yellow alert has been announced in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Tuesday; Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Wednesday; Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Thursday and Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod districts on Friday.
Monsoon trough has shifted south from its normal position. A coastal low-pressure area is prevailing over south Gujarat coast to north Kerala coast and a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Jharkhand. Another cyclonic trough is present in the Northeast Arabian Sea near Gujarat coast as well. According to the warning from the weather department, Kerala is getting heavy rains as a result of all this.
