THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The burglar who allegedly stole 85 sovereigns of gold from a house in Thiruvananthapuram has been taken into custody by the police. The accused has been identified as Shafeeq. 85 sovereigns of gold kept in a room on the second-floor room of Manacaud native Ramakrishnan was stolen on the 7th. The gold that was stolen was kept for the upanayana of Ramakrishna's son.
The burglary took place when the family went to visit Thiruchendur ahead of the upanayana. The family, which left on Thursday, came to know about the burglary after returning on Friday afternoon. There were many guests in the house as the upanayana ceremony was going on in the house. The police suspect that the thief entered the house and remained hidden during this rush.
