THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: India and ISRO are determined to land Chandrayaan 3 on the moon this time no matter what happens. Chandrayaan 2 had failed to land at the last moment last time. Even if Chandrayaan 3 cannot land at the predetermined location this time, the probe has the capability to move to an alternate landing site. The aim is to land the vehicle at a specific point near the Moon's South Pole.
If that doesn't happen, more fuel and a system to travel to another area have been put in place to land the vehicle anywhere within that area. Sensors, algorithms and engines have been installed in the vehicle after detailed testing. The lander is also equipped with several solar panels to ensure sufficient energy. The craters and rocks in the landing area have been studied in detail.
America, Russia and China have landed probes on the moon. India is trying to become the fourth country. Chandrayaan 3 will be launched on the 14th at 2:35 pm.
Meanwhile, from July 9 to 14, the telecom department has banned construction activities in areas near the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, where the launch will take place. This is to prevent damage to critical communication systems including optical fiber cables.
