THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has sanctioned Rs 30 crore to pay the first instalment of salary in KSRTC for the month of June. The management expects this amount to reach the account by Tuesday morning. Then the salary will be distributed today.
KSRTC had demanded Rs 110 crore from the government including arrears of Rs 60 crore due from previous months and June's allocation of Rs 50 crore. According to the decision of the meeting presided over by the Chief Minister, the Finance Department had agreed to provide financial assistance of 50 crores per month for one year. However, for the last three months, it has been paying 30 crores each. With this, the financial condition of the corporation was completely disrupted. It was only able to repay loans and purchase diesel and spare parts using its income.
KSRTC has not received the Rs 70 crore rupees requested for the distribution of pension. It is yet to pay the pension for the month of June. As per the agreement made with the organizations, the pension for July should be paid in the first week.
