NEW DELHI: Northern India is shivering in fear over the incessant rains that have been pouring for three days straight. According to reports, at least nineteen people have died in the last three days as heavy rains continue in many parts of North India. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that heavy rains will continue in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Delhi and adjoining areas in the next two days.

Landslides and floods occurred in Himachal Pradesh due to incessant rains. Houses and buildings were damaged. As all major rivers are overflowing, places including Manali and Kullu are flooded. Vehicles and buildings were washed away. An unsettling video of this has also surfaced.

More than 1300 roads including the main ones were destroyed in the calamity. Chenab, Ravi Sutlej, and beas river are overflowing.

As per records, Delhi is experiencing the heaviest rain in the last forty years. Landslides and floods were also reported in Uttarakhand. Water levels in rivers and streams have risen dangerously.

Union minister Nitin Gadkari called for an immediate meeting to discuss restoration works of the damaged roads. Meanwhile, PM Modi held telephonic conversations with the CM of all states affected by the deluge.
