KOTTAYAM: A native of Jharkhand was arrested for stealing a mobile phone from inside the church during mass. Kottayam East Police arrested Gopind Singh (34) for stealing the mobile phone of a girl who came to attend the mass. The incident took place at the Good Shepherd Church near the Police Parade Ground on Sunday.

The girl, who had come to attend the mass, placed her mobile phone on a nearby desk and was praying. The accused came from behind and took the phone. Following the complaint, the Kottayam East Police registered a case. The culprit was found through a scientific examination. He was arrested by East Station SI Anuraj, Suresh Kumar, CPOs Ajesh and Anoop Kumar. The accused was produced in court.
