BHUBANESHWAR: An Odia-based private satellite channel has unveiled India's first regional AI news anchor, 'LISA'. The AI-powered anchor was launched by Odisha TV at a ceremony held in Bhubaneshwar.

OTV posted a video of Lisa in traditional attire introducing herself on Twitter. The news network announced that Lisa would be hosting news in English and Odia for the network's television and digital platforms.

The leaps of AI in media are being pushed further with Lisa's emergence as India's first regional AI news anchor. Earlier in March, India Today group's Aaj Tak news channel launched India's first-ever AI news anchor named 'Sana'.However, it was China that introduced the world's first AI news anchor. In 2018, Xinhua, China’s state news agency developed a digital version of a news anchor.
