THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The vigilance found irregularities in the purchase of pups, its food and medicine, for the police department. The anomalies were detected in the purchase of pups for state dog training school of Kerala Police Academy in Thrissur. Dog squad nodal officer and assistant commandant of KAP third battalion A S Suresh has been suspended over the incident.
The vigilance which conducted a secret investigation into the complaints received on the irregularities in the purchase of puppies, had submitted a report to the government last year. The suspension was based on this. Things for the dogs were bought at a high price from a firm in Thiruvananthapuram.
The report also said that dogs were bought from North India at high rates. Puppies were purchased from Punjab and Rajasthan at higher rates than other forces.
The secret investigation also found that assistant commandant A S Suresh took special interest and appointed a district lab officer to treat the dogs of the academy. The order of the home department said Suresh has been suspended pending investigation.
