MUMBAI: A Doctor from Mumbai has lost 1.40 lakh rupees after ordering samosas online. The incident took place last Saturday between 8.30 am and 10.30 am. A doctor at Civic Run KEM Hospital in Mumbai ordered 25 plates of samosas from a popular eatery in Sion.

According to the police, the doctor and his colleagues had planned to go on a picnic to Karjat. He placed an order for 25 plates of samosas through a number found online. When he called the number, the person asked him to pay Rs 1500 in advance.Then the doctor received a WhatsApp message containing order confirmation and bank account number for online payment. After sending 1500 ruppees, the person on the other side asked the doctor the transaction ID for the payment. He initially lost Rs 28,807 when he followed his instructions. Later, a total of Rs 1.40 lakh was lost from the account.


A case has been registered at the Bhoiwada police station under the Information Technology Act.
